Yesterday evening I gave a talk on WordPress Hosting Basics. Thanks to everyone that came along, it was interesting to get first hand feedback on what developers and users are actually using, it was a good mix. The discussion and questions after the talk seemed to focus heavily on performance, one of the main catalysts for changing hosting providers (even though hosting alone isn’t always a silver bullet).
I tried to make the slide deck unbiased and as comprehensive as possible so they stand alone can be reused by anyone who wants to help clients to colleagues choose the best hosting for their WordPress project. I talked about how freely the term “managed” is in the hosting space, with some examples of things to look for and consider when choosing a provider. There’s plenty of content that isn’t WordPress specific, covering general topics such as DNS, security and performance.
You can find the slides below, if you have any feedback or questions please feel free to get in touch.
